Selkirk Fishermen claim the 2021-22 CRJHL Championship
The Selkirk Fishermen have won the CRJHL championship, completing a 4-game sweep of the Arborg Ice Dawgs.
The Fishermen took the League's best record into the playoffs, and after sweeping the Lundar Falcons in one semi-final, met the second place Ice Dawgs, who beat the St. Malo Warriors 4-1 in their semi-final in the Championship series.
The finals was a hard fought series, with Arborg giving the Fishermen all they could handle. In the end, the Fish were just too much for the Ice Dawgs, who struggled to find the back of the net in the series.
This was the first Championship series since the CRJHL's inaugural year. The Fishermen claimed the initial championship, however the 2019-20 series never got started, with the St. Malo Warriors and Selkirk Fishermen finishing as co-finalists. The entire 2020-21 season was lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was fantastic to have completed an entire season and be able to crown a league champion.
Congratulations to the Selkirk Fishermen on their championship, the Arborg Ice Dawgs on finishing as CRJHL Finalists, and to the entire CRJHL league on a successful return of CRJHL competition.
